Zones, new to Historic GasTown, quite unique and must simply be experienced..

"I entered into a realm that beckoned to me. I felt almost awestruck with the castle that lay ahead as I strode upon the stone walk and started down the drawbridge. As I gazed about, huge ivy covered stone walls, were filled with many doors, all calling to me to enter them and find what wonders lay behind each of them. But for now, it was time to enter the great hall of the castle, and what an entrance it is indeed..."

Zones, the newest resident of Virtual Vancouver is located in Historic Gastown along side of The Rose, Eclipse & London Image at the foot of the hill out of the transport. They opened this week, amid a flurry of patches and upgrades from rlc and still managed to get their venue up and running throughout. Venue doesn't really describe Zones, it is like a number of venues in one. Best described by XJules502X manager of Gothica, one of the clubs inside of Zones;"To me, it has a little bit of every club in the Utherverse." And I must say that after seeing it, that is seemingly very true. Jules kindly introduced me to the owner of Zones, Queen_Deety_IBC, a truly lovely person and some very proud, rightfully so, of her venue.

Well, I was certainly given the grand tour and what a tour it was. There are 3 full clubs, the castle area, a beach, a dungeon, bedrooms and a conference room. First off the castle houses a huge great room with full dance floor under the stars, comfy sitting areas and great dj platform. Surrounding the castle is a full moat and even an under the castle swimming area (trust me, check this out ;) ).

Next we went out to the beach, now Zones beach is truly dramatic, hosting a large swimming area, nice wide sandy beach, comfy seating and blankets all over and even a "semi-private" bungalow for more intimate moments. The true highlight of the beach area is the massive pier and it's beach club. You really get the feeling of being out on the water and the views are so dramatic and also is quite the romantic spot, complete with champagne on the tables. There is a huge dance floor and lots of room to move around.

Next is Club Gothica, which with it's blood red and black color scheme, truly invokes a different kind of club feeling in its doors. To be honest, I found it to be very warm and inviting and Jules, the mgr. was quite friendly and very welcoming to all that came in. As with all the clubs within, and playing throughout Zones, they will be hosting live dj's on some nights and using the black network with clubRLC so the music will be continuously thumping and keeping everyone moving.

Moving on, we went next to the techno club 5150 (which, I found out, "is the police code for lunatic or crazy on the loose", this reporter kinda fits right into that category lol.). 5150 is a very upbeat, wayyy modern club that truly brings out the ravers in all of us. And let me add here, you need to really take your time in looking around, as in all the areas of Zones, there is so much more than you will see at first glance.

Now the next club is Thugz. Thugz was done differently from the rest of Zones and it shows. The feel, the look, all of it, has a very unique flavor and just one more reason Zones is so different. There is a huge grand room with a massive dance floor, but above is another semi-transparent dance floor. Also there are a number of cages and even above all that is seating areas with tables and chairs.

This is yet another club you need to really see to be able to take it all in properly. We toured the various bedrooms, one is interesting as it's a suite, but like the others, unlike what we find in other places in the verse. And each has their own themes. The conference room is large and airy and is a grand place for meetings and such and that brought us to the dungeon. A large room with much potential and ready to be put into use for those that "dare" to.

Getting the chance to speak with Queen_Deety_IBC at some length, she explained that her main goals with Zones is very simply. First, "To have fun, that is number one." Also, "to be self-sustaining", these are two very laudable goals and should, with support from the residents of the Verse, be fairly easily achievable. She feels, as many of us do, that Virtual Vancouver, along with Granville Island is growing and becoming a showplace within Utherverse and that with the other venues already in place, this is indeed the premier area to be in. She, like some other venue owners, simply wish to get along with her neighbors and as all the venues compliment one another in the Verse, they all do help one another by bringing in the guests. With Zones, there is much to draw folks to, and in turn all the venues surrounding benefit from the traffic. Also, she proudly pointed out that she was able to do all this with Zones with the help of some "very talented designers" and again, that truly shows!
What I found Zones to be is not so much another club, but rather an experience, one you need to do yourself. Allow time as it is much larger than you first think and with all the areas within and the entertainment you will encounter, I am sure you will be there a long time indeed and I am also just as sure you will be going back again and again. I thank Queen_Deety_IBC for her time and kindness and want all of you, my dear readers, to make it a point to check out this venue very soon and please introduce yourselves to Queen_Deety_IBC and tell her I said to say hello and I am sure you will find her to be a wonderful hostess as I certainly did.
