Granville In Motion - History again was made in Utherverse

The morning of June 13, 2009 started quietly in Granville Island, as a few of us had gathered at 9am on the upper amusement pier to get things ready, meet with the volunteers and fine tune for the big event. But, of course, in the grand tradition of the Verse, folks knowing a party was going to be taking place there that day started coming round and before 15 mins was up, we were 15 - 20 strong and the the party had started. WildFire quickly named it our Granville In Motion Pre-party and one of the WRT volunteers started streaming music.

The official times for Granville In Motion, an event which was the brain-child of WildFire (Owner of Wild Rose Tavern) and with Guy01 (Owner of G's) and even yours truly that idea was made into reality, were supposed to be from 12pm PST - midnight, but seems the partiers decided to come on in and get it rolling at 9am and rolling it was! The scheduled 12 hour event was designed to highlight all the venues of Virtual Vancouver and Granville Island and to make the residents of Utherverse aware of the grand venues and wonders of both V.V. and also Granville Island. This did happen for sure as many of the venues had tables manned with their personal to make sure that the guests at the event were made aware of what their venues offered and their directions to their locations.

Granville In Motion was barely into the first official 20 mins and the attendance was already well over 60!! That number soared to a high of 100 before the half way point in the event and numbers of 75 - 80 were the norm all day long! What all of those that were there saw that day was truly history in the making!! So much transpired both in making the event happen and in the actual event itself and we all saw the coming together of the many varied venues and so many people there to simply enjoy the day and being one with the community.
There was a major Scavenger Hunt, which was sponsored by the venues that participated in which many great and a number of valuable prizes were awarded and all those that participated seemed to have a really great time. The reports from the venues seemed to be that plenty were running around after getting the clues trying to find the prizes hidden in the venues. Again this was designed to be a fun game and surely seemed to be just that. Even as the hour grew late, people continued to pour into Granville and the party never stopped rolling! By the 11th hour, one would think that the volunteers/ entertainers/ dj's energy would have wained, but not this group, if anything they were all more than willing to crank it past high and go for the moon!

Now there was no shortage of entertainment either, as there were DJ's spinning live throughout the entire event; Dj Steph_WRT was there spinning for our Pre-party, then DJ_Dutchy_CFXR took over, next was DJ_Jazzanova, followed by DJ_Retro BamBam, next up was DJ_KCar57_OFC, following her was DJ_Pushy and then rounded out the night was Mrs.Joey_BOA. All of these pro dj's rocked the house with their sets and are all to be applauded! On a personal note, I want to say that all these dj's truly were a huge part of the event and that I do recommend each and everyone of them for most any event you might have coming up! They all ROCK!!

Then there were the dance troupes performing all through the event and every couple of hours they would come out and truly entertain us all; The hot, hard men of Molten Steel, the sensuously seductive ladies of Molten Silk and those naughty nurses with their "bad medicine" Rhythmic Xplosion. These groups gave the audience some truly eye popping entertainment and added even more life and liveliness to a party that was already brimming over with love, laughter and happiness! Again, I want to add my personal notes, as these dancers really went above and beyond in entertaining the huge groups of people and did such wonderful jobs. Also, I will tell you that for any of you party needs, these groups are all TOP NOTCH and will really give your parties what they need to make it that really Special event! Watch the bulletins and forums for their locations and times if you haven't yet seen them or want to see them again soon, as they are all busy all over the verse and with very good reason!
This type of event, while geared to show off certain areas, and their venues, does oh so much more. It allows all the residents of Utherverse a chance to get together and see what this community is all about, outside of clubs and zabys. It also allows the newer members of our community to see what we are all about and how much fun can be had just being out and about in the Verse, meeting new people and making new friends. Far to often that feeling is lost, or even not seen, when all they see is the Zaby Lobby or Main Street of RLC. Anywho, all that attended Saturday won't soon forget it!! I for one cannot wait till we try and make some new history along the way and get up the next event!

As to a listing of the participating venues in Granville In Motion and in no particular order;
G's & G's pier, Wild Rose Tavern, Eclipse Night Club, Guilty Pleasures, Cfxrnetradio.com, The Rose, Cowboys, Nostalgic Dreamz, Shockers, Niche Boutique, Club 69, London Image, L&I Photography, & FullMoon
All these great venues deserve a big round of applause for being a part of Granville In Motion. And not to considered least by any stretch is the wonderful people that gave of their time and, omg, so many of them stayed throughout the entire event (I know, I was there the whole time myself!!). The seemingly tireless volunteers, keeping people abreast of where the party was in Granville, who the dj's were and how to tune them in, giving big props to the groups, the venues and the guests as well. These great people ROCKED it and need to be acknowledged. The majority of volunteers were from Wild Rose Tavern, acting as ambassadors for Granville In Motion, also there were those from Eclipse and each of the participating venues had their own people, and at times the owners themselves, manning the tables. We even had a few vols. that simply came and gave of themselves without being asked, rather they asked what they could do. Events such as this one, couldn't work without these folks and they truly made all the difference!!

To sum up, I have to say, what is a major event without an after party? Well, we had just that, only to allow for all to get a bit of much needed rest, it was the following day and dubbed a volunteer appreciation party. Well, the turnout for that was wonderful and again, for about 5 or 6 hours Granville was rocking! Steph_WRT was spinning live and we all partied and dance till this reporter couldn't move, so time for rest, but hey all rested up now and ready for the next great thing, and hey, it may just be about you!
Until next time, this is
