Uther Pride Day Celebration...

At 1pm PST in the Zaby lobby, Gay alley & Granville Island, people began to gather, as the time passed on the crowds grew and and air of excitement was thick. At 2pm the march was underway as folks from these three regions headed together towards the Amphitheater in Virtual Vancouver to celebrate a day of equality, to come together as gay men, lesbians, straight folk, transgendered peoples showing the world we are, in fact, one human family and that we have pride in unity!

Well, history was made in the Verse, As Saturday, June 6th., was Utherverse Pride Day. This day was set aside to allow all residents of Utherverse to come together to celebrate diversity, equality and love for our fellow humans. The month of June was decided upon for pride celebrations most everywhere, as June is the anniversary month of the now famous Stonewall riots * in NYC, making this date doubly important as this year marked it's 40th anniversary. This Verse celebration was made possible due to the hard work and diligence of a few to allow all to come together and enjoy a most joyous and wonderful day. Those on the top of the list are WildFire_WRTENC & SP_COCK_PIG_MS, as these two individuals brought this day about by their love, caring and devotion by seeing the need for this type of event, they got things rolling. Much of the credit goes to them, as this event was a huge success, to say the least. And they showed with their passion for humanity and bringing about a sense of unity, that this was an important and much needed event! Their were others, more behind the scenes, Guy01 and yes, yours truly even had her hand in it. Also were the venues that supported this event G's, Wild Rose Tavern and Eclipse Night Club, but the biggest props must go out to EACH AND EVERY ONE of the folks that came and participated in this wonderful day!!

The celebration was led off by a truly impassioned speech by SP_COCK_Pig_MS that was both moving and inspired and I am sure that more than few of us were reaching for tissues by the end of it, yet his words also helped to fill our hearts with pride and a sense of belonging. The day was about unity and equality and his words helped to cement that into our consciences and our hearts. Following that, the party began and what a party it was!! The folks turned out in their brightest and most joyous colors and lit up the amphitheater with rainbows and fun! The DJ's for the day were Steph_WRTENC and Guy01 and they truly went above and beyond in making us all happy and rocked the house down with their great tunes!!  Performing for us were 3 dance troupes; Molten Steel, Molten Silk and Rhythmic Xpolosion and what a show they all put on!!

The crowds were over 75 strong at one point and the main area below the stage was all but full all afternoon with happy, joyous people. The scope of this event must have reached the notice of the main offices at Utherverse, as it's CEO Brian Shuster was there and stayed on to enjoy the day. You see, for those of you that missed this historic event, it was truly infectious and all those of us that shared that day can tell you no one was really ready for it to end, rather the party went on afterward at an after party at 7- Sands late into the evening.

For all of you that were there, you witnessed history in the making and were a part of that. You came together as one, you made all of us feel that while diversity was a part of our daily lives, love and support were alive & well, growing and very real. You transcended the veil of ignorance and put the power for change to task. This is what being a part of the human family is all about. All members of humanity, irregardless of their gender, sexual preferences, nationality, religious affiliations or anything else, are just that, a part of the whole that makes up humanity and on Saturday June 6th, 2009 we all showed the Verse, and some of the world beyond, just that, we are all brothers and sisters, joined by our humanity and love for one another.
